Climate Change in Indonesia
Plastic waste is the most surprising thing in the problem of climate change that occurs in Indonesia. Especially plastic waste that ends up in the oceans. The surprising thing for me is when plastic waste turns into micro plastics that can be consumed by fish. This micro plastic can be consumed by humans during this time. Moreover, plastic waste in Indonesia ends up in the oceans a lot. Not only is it harmful to humans, it also has an impact on underwater ecosystems. Indonesia has a lot of underwater biodiversity, this is what makes Indonesia's underwater very beautiful.

In addition to plastic waste, the cause of climate change in Indonesia is also a habit carried out by its people. Some of these are overharvesting and overdevelopment. The use of wood-based items such as tissues and paper is one of the habits that are still difficult to change. This can lead to overharvesting of the wood which eventually impacts the earth. In addition to overharvesting plants against fish will also interfere with animal populations. Overdevelopment is also one of the factors of climate change that has an impact on the lack of space for forests or growing plants. Similar to overharvesting woods, overdevelopment can decrease the amount of plants and it will impact climate change.

However, climate change makes many people also more aware of the surrounding environment. Many organizations have been founded to help mitigate climate change. From non-profit organizations or businesses designed to be environmentally friendly businesses. It is these people behind organizations and businesses that inspire me to become one of the rangers who can mitigate future climate change. There are many ways that you can do it and can start from the little things we used to do. Reducing plastic waste may still be very difficult to do in everyday life. There are still many products made from plastic that are very useful in everyday life. Carrying your own shopping bag, carrying a tumbler, replacing single-use plastic items with reusable ones is one of the small steps that can be done starting from yourself. Many items can already replace single-use. The main thing is to replace plastic packaging that is still used by products, especially food. Replacing with biodegradable packaging will be one of the movements that have a very impact on the environment. This is also true of styrofoam, styrofoam waste also has the same impact as plastic waste. The use of styrofoam for food containers ends up accumulating other types of waste that are difficult to decipher. There is already an eco-friendly packaging that can replace styrofoam, but because the price is much more expensive food traders still choose to use styrofoam. By reducing plastic waste we could solve the problem of climate change and plastic waste in the ocean can be reduced. We can save our oceans and the fish which we eat will be more healthy.
Microplastic has been a huge problem for all countries. I've even read an article that said microplastic had been found in a human fetus!! It means that the mother ate seafood s or other foods containing microplastic. That's one of the most shocking finding that I have ever read. It means it's not impossible if microplastic can also be found in other human fetus right?!?
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree with you, we need to replace the use of styrofoam. Besides styrofoam is not environmentally friendly, it's also not good for health because styrofoam is carcinogenic. And the level of danger will also increase if we put hot food in a styrofoam.
This case has been becoming our problem for decades. Everybody knows we cannot instantly changed the use of plastic, however, by replacing the use of plastic like styrofoam might brings promising change to our environment . Anyway , thank you for sharing ... Love it.
ReplyDeletePlastic is a huge problem for human life.. But how do people keep using it while they already know the negative impact for our live? That's still a problem for all of us to save our earth. Especially here in Indonesia, many people still use plastic because its cheap and easy to find it anywhere. And I believe By reducing plastic is not enough for our nature, but we have to stop using single use plastic.
ReplyDeletein modern era a lot of use of plastic cups for drinks, styrofoam for food or snack containers. I'm worried that if it continues to grow, there will be a lot of waste that is difficult to decompose. Now smart entrepreneurs should be able to change the habit of using single use plastic with environmentally friendly materials
ReplyDeleteThe problem of plastic is indeed very worrying in Indonesia. we can find various types of garbage everywhere. Not only in the oceans but also on land, rivers and so on. The impact of the amount of plastic waste we have felt today. Many disasters that occur such as floods are also caused by human lifestyles that are not wise in managing waste.
